| DESCRIPTION |
| Virtually all of Djibouti (90%) is volcanic desert. There are minor mountain ranges from the coastal plain to the Ethiopian highlands where the highest point in the country (Mount Moussa 2063m or 6768 ft) is located. The coastline is some 800 km (500 miles) long. An arid coastal zone around the Gulf of Tadjoura Djibouti is just north of the Horn of Africa on the Bab-el-Mandeb strait at the southern entrance to the Red Sea. |
